Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine men’s club hockey team wrapped up a historic season at the AAU College Hockey National Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, marking the program’s first appearance on the national stage.

Competing in the AAU Division II bracket, the Black Bears faced a challenging slate of opponents from across the country. We opened the tournament with a strong showing, earning a win over Redeemer University and showcasing the team’s resilience and depth. However, the Black Bears were unable to carry that momentum through the remainder of pool play, falling to Anna Maria College and Elon University.

Despite the 1–2 record at nationals, our tournament appearance caps off a milestone season for us. We finished the year with an 11–13 overall record and earned a No. 6 national ranking in AAU Division II, an impressive achievement for a program continuing to establish itself at a high level of competition.

While the results in Jacksonville didn’t fully reflect our aspirations, the experience of competing at nationals is expected to serve as a turning point for the program. With a core group of returning players and momentum from a breakthrough year, we look poised to continue our rise in AAU college hockey.
